Profiles In Leadership: Gary Joiner
Dec 03, 2019We've taken notice of Gary Joiner's long and effective career in public service for Pasco County, as well as his commitment to caring for residents in need.
As the Property Appraiser of Pasco County since 2016, Gary Joiner is the elected chief administrator of the County office that appraises property for taxation and planning.
He took office with extensive experience in government and a vision of delivering extraordinary customer experience, innovative technology, accurate appraisals, and spirited teamwork.
Gary grew up in New Port Richey, graduated from Gulf High School, went to Pasco-Hernando State College, and then rose during 33 years in the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office to the position of Director of Operations.
While making significant progress on his goals for the Property Appraiser's office, Mr. Joiner has also led his team in support of many charitable activities in Pasco County, including Feeding Pasco's Elderly, a Diaper and Wipes Drive for the Sunrise of Pasco shelter residents, collection of items for the Coalition for the Homeless, participation in Red Nose Day to end child poverty, the Hunger Walk, The Volunteer Way's annual event breakfast, the Shoes & Socks Drive for Pasco County School District, the Annual Holiday Food Giveaway, the Toys for Tots collections, and helping one needy family directly last Christmas. Gary is also a founder and Board President of Uplifting Neighbors, a new organization to meet urgent needs in Pasco County. Uplifting Neighbors’ first vision breakfast is Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Verizon Event Center in New Port Richey.
